October 28th
2011
As part of
Republika Srpska’s presentation at the 56th
Belgrade Book Fair, which was organised by the Ministry of
Education and Culture of Republika Srpska and Representative
Office of Republika Srpska on
27th
October 2011, Statistical Yearbook of Republika Srpska for
2010 was officially presented and promoted.
Promotion of the
Yearbook was held at the official stand of Repubika Srpska,
which,
according to the general opinion, was one of the best
looking stands not only among state and national stands
(which were thematically placed in the Hall 2 of the Fair),
but also when observing all publishing presentations at this
truly impressive and seemingly wealthiest ever festival of
professionals and fans of books. Obviously, the reason
behind this kind of presentation of Republika Srpska was a
significant anniversary – 50 years of Ivo Andrić’s Nobel
Prize.
In this festive spirit and mood,
Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics as the Yearbook
publisher was represented by its Director Radmila Čičković,
Phd, and Velimir Savić, editor in chief of this publication,
who both held speeches at the promotion.
Even though this is only the second
issue of this most significant publication of the Institute,
the Yearbook drew attention of experts in professional
publications not only with its appearance and innovative
cover and page design, but also with its quality and vast
multitude of data, as well as practical and transparent
approach to the processing of complex matter required by
statistics, while at the same time following modern trends
and various requests by users of statistical data.
Beside the organisers of the Book Fair,
National and University Library of Republika Srpska also
participated in selection of works which would represent
Republika Srpska at this Fair. Having in mind that,
according to the data provided by this cultural institution,
there were 1 131 monographs published in Republika Srpska
during the period between the two Belgrade Book Fairs,
recognition of the Yearbook’s quality and importance as a
representative of culture and knowledge of Republika Srpska
is a great honour for the Institute.
It was an honour to represent Republika
Srpska alongside authors such as Emir Kusturica, Bishop
Grigorije and writer Neđo Šipovac, while it is also
important to note that the Yearbook entered the circle of
significant works including the Statistical encyclopaedia
and rich two – volume monograph on Republika Srpska.
Promotions at Republika Srpska’s stand during the Book Fair
were attended by several ministers of the Government of
Republika Srpska, as well as famous persons from the fields
of culture, science and politics from the Republic of Serbia
and Republika Srpska.
